Bentley seeks PLUS prize

17/07/2008

Veteran financier and entrepreneur John Bentley plans to bring video games technology innovator Prize Mobile to PLUS.

At 68, Bentley, who rose to prominence as an asset stripper and socialite in the 1970s and later started the UK’s first quoted video rental company, is managing director of Prize Mobile. The company boasts technology allowing mobile video games to build in a points system to reward game players with prizes on a secure basis and to collect and manage consumer data valuable to advertisers.

Prize Mobile says its technology was originally developed for online gambling and achieved a Class 4 online casino licence in Malta. However, the company says it is now firmly focused on amusement games and has no intention to become engaged in casino or gambling games involving wagers. It is advised by Athanor Capital Partners, which previously considered going onto PLUS itself advised by Andrew Greystoke’s Atlantic Law.

Prize Mobile’s executive director is Roger Ashby, also 68, an entrepreneur in the electronics and energy fields. Transatlantic corporate financier Andrew Consentino and accountant and businessman Michael O’Driscoll are non-executive directors of the company.
