Galleon clinches US deal

Multimedia intellectual property group Galleon Holdings has agreed a strategic partnership with Dragonfruit Studios of Atlanta.

The AIM-quoted company, which focuses on entertainment in emerging markets, is to receive an initial $1 million (£560,000) plus royalties from Dragonfruit for the rights to its successful Chinese interactive TV talent show Super Soccer Stars and Apollo’s Pad, an online animated sitcom aimed at the ’young male audience’. The Dragonfruit deal follows an agreement between Phoenix, Galleon’s Chinese arm, and MMTV, China’s national digital TV broadcaster, to co-produce a series of Galleon’s play along game shows.

Galleon’s chief executive officer Stephen Green is working on other deals in several areas. The company, which recently broke into the black with pre-tax first-half profits of £355,000, saw its shares surge from 5.38p to 34.75p between 2005 and last October, though they are now 24.25p.

They should resume progress over the longer term.
