Multimedia intellectual property group Galleon has won a new contract with leading Chinese broadcaster Hunan TV (HNTV) to develop and facilitate interactivity for a range of programmes to be broadcast on HNTV’s ‘Entertainment Channel’.

AIM-quoted Galleon’s Chinese operation, Phoenix, will work with HNTV, which boasts an audience reach of seven million, to develop interactive game play, functionality and content applications for seven shows over the coming year.

This deal follows Galleon’s recent agreement to syndicate ‘Super Soccer Star’, a successful interactive football TV talent show that it co-produces with Guangdong TV Sports Channel to Shanghai Media Group. Galleon, which has furthered its expansion by acquiring the Yunbo mobile service provider in China, has also turned a £357,000 first-half loss into a £355,000 interim pre-tax profit on turnover up 146 per cent to £5.8m in the six months to March.

Chief executive officer Stephen Green has said the company is also in discussions with satellite broadcasters about a new football series in China and another one featuring a different sport. Shares in Galleon, which surged from 5.38p to 34.75p between 2005 and last October, now trade at 21.75p and might repay a punt.
