Bango - SPECULATIVE BUY

Companies: BGO
15/05/2008

Mobile Internet technology counter Bango recently launched a new product called Bango Analytics amid hints from chief executive Ray Anderson that forthcoming figures for the year to March will illustrate the changing fortunes of the group.

Anderson admits that Cambridge-based Bango has been playing the 'waiting game' as the global marketplace for mobile internet products gets ready to 'explode'. This seems all the more tangible in light of the launch of the iPhone, which has popularised the format and the regularisation of billing for mobile internet.

As for Bango Analytics, this allows mobile internet sites to access data regarding the ‘clickthroughs’ on their mobile websites for the first time – making performance and revenue development in the format both measurable and accurate. This works in conjunction with Bango's main product, enabling businesses to bypass the multiple mobile phone network operators and directly place themselves on the mobile internet through its self-service interface.

Bango is also set to benefit from the surge in mobile internet advertising through its partner sales groups that allow it to be the intermediary between advertisers and the mobile internet sites it facilitates. Mobile Internet advertising is predicted to be worth $11bn (£5.6bn) by 2011.

Steady growth in the UK and 'exciting prospects' in the US, Canada and beyond are set to drive Bango’s revenues up very strongly in the coming year, according to Anderson. Nevertheless, with imminent figures set to show losses of around £1m for the year to March 2008 and profitability forecast to elude the group until March 2010, the shares are not for the risk averse. Speculative buy.
