Vehicle telematics group Eagle Eye brought investors' attention to a mystery order in a curious announcement. Directors explained that Floor Decor, traded on the OTC Bulletin Board in the US, had claimed its subsidiary 'Scandinavia' received an order for 50,000 Eagle Eye VCG2 units. Floor Decor's subsidiary signed a distribution deal with Eagle Eye back in October. In a rather strange state of affairs, the board said it had no details of this order and 'was not presently in a position to assess the likelihood of such an order materialising'. Investors should expect more news soon. However on a more definite note, the company has unveiled security company Chubb as the strategic alliance partner referred to in its cryptic announcement on 5 November, when it said it had signed a distribution deal with a 'leading UK company', but refused to name the partner on confidentiality grounds. Eagle Eye says it has delivered the initial 1,000 unit order for its combined vehicle telematics and camera unit, designed to protect taxi drivers, and which Chubb is marketing under its 'Cabwatch' brand name. Drivers activate a panic alarm alerting a Chubb monitoring station where a Chubb worker can guide the police to the incident. The Cabwatch system also takes photos inside the cab.
