Bathroom suites producer, Qualceram, is set to acquire Irish outfit Shire and Shires . The ventures have complementary customer bases, with little overlap and Qualceram hopes that synergies across production will aid earnings growth. Another positive factor is that the acquisition will leave Qualceram better prepared to compete internationally. The deal - due to be reviewed by shareholders in an EGM in September - will be met by £34m in cash and £10m from a placing underwritten by English Trust.
