Carbon ceramic specialist Surface Transforms says it is to supply ceramic discs to a ‘major European brake system supplier’.
The Cheshire-based company, which boasts proprietary technology for making high-performance carbon ceramics, says its unnamed new customer provides braking systems to many Formula teams ‘across F1, GP2 and Le Mans’. Surface’s SystemST discs will be incorporated into these systems.
This deal follows several other recent contract wins. The company has started supplying Swedish ‘super car’ maker Koenigsegg and is to incorporate its discs into the braking system
of the Avocet British two-seater sports car.
Shares in Surface Transforms have had a mostly rough ride since they were floated on AIM six years ago at 70p. After a brief excursion above 80p, they collapsed all the way to 10.5p last April.
Now they have perked up modestly to 18.25p, valuing the company at £3.5 million. The appeal is speculative.
