Dermatology specialist York Pharma remains upbeat after an increased deficit for the first half-year.
Hitchin-based York, which lost £6 million in the year to last September, incurred a 50 per cent hike in the loss made to £4.5 million in the six months to March on £2.2 million combined maiden sales of acne treatment Zindaclin and other products, including Vitix, which combats pigment-removing Vitiligo. The AIM-quoted company, which bought internationally focused Derms Development last November for £15 million and raised £5.35 million at 120p in the same month, ended March with £2 million cash.
Chief executive officer Terry Sadler says that York expects marketing authorisation before September for its Abasol cream for dermatomycosis (fungal infections of the skin), which would provide a fillip for the company. The shares, which plunged from 2007’s 148.5p high to 43.75p last month, are now 50.5p and value the company at £24.3 million.
