Irish entrepreneur John Teeling’s Connemara Mining reports ‘significant’ zinc and lead mineralisation at Lough Sheelin in Ireland.
The AIM-quoted exploration company says that five out of 11 recently drilled holes show zinc at decidedly respectable grades ranging from 0.7 metres at 1.2 per cent zinc to 0.45 metres at 4.35 per cent. Accompanying the zinc is lead at grades ranging from 0.7 metres at 0.26 per cent lead to 0.45 metres at 2.32 per cent.
Connemara says that the Lough Sheelin mineralisation resembles that shown at the major Tara zinc mine 25 km to the east and is open to the north and west. Chairman Teeling points out that ‘A follow-up drilling programme is planned to begin in the coming months.’
Floated at 35p last July, Connemara shares soon rose to 40.25p but had fallen back to 32p by November. Now 35p again, their appeal is speculative.
