Engineering services group Redhall was yesterday named AIM Company of the Year in the 2008 Growth Company Awards.

Headed by chairman and chief executive David Jackson, Redhall, which increased pre-tax profits from £772,000 to £2.4 million in its last financial year, has particular expertise in the nuclear power sector and recently forged an alliance with ONET, the French market leader in nuclear waste retrieval and de-commissioning. The company’s shares have risen from 21.5p three years ago to 262.5p today.

Organised by Growth Company Investor with sponsorship headed by financial and legal document specialist Millnet, the eighth annual Growth Company Awards were presented at the Grocers’ Hall in the City of London. St Helen’s Finance, which provides asset finance and leasing to small and medium-sized companies, won the PLUS Company of the Year Award.

Winners were chosen by a team of judges drawn from the AIM and PLUS communities from a short list produced by a canvas of all chief executive officers of companies quoted on AIM and the PLUS-Quoted market. AIM Broker of the Year was Cenkos Securities, while KBC Peel Hunt was chosen as AIM Adviser of the Year and St. Helen’s Capital as PLUS Adviser of the Year.

BDO Stoy Hayward won the award for AIM Accountant of the Year and Berwin Leighton Paisner was picked as AIM Lawyer of the Year. Venture Capital Trust Fund Manager of the Year was Beringea for the ProVen and ProVen Growth & Income VCTs.

Standard Life Investments Smaller Companies Fund, managed by Harry Nimmo, won the award for Small-Cap Fund of the Year. Francesca Raleigh, who researches support services for broker Numis Securities, was named Analyst of the Year and Buchanan Communications was chosen as Financial PR of the Year.
