Having made his money in property, Laurence Selman is focusing his attention on 'exciting deals' through his directorship at AIM-quoted leisure and media investment vehicle RAM Investments.

'Exciting' is definitely one word for some of the company's current projects. The recently launched Gizmundo by British firm Tiger Telematics, a hand-held entertainment device that is looking to take a chunk out of Sony's and Nintendo's monopoly, which Selman has privately invested in, could provide opportunities for Ram, as it has a joint venture with Tiger to license 'live' gambling applications for the console.

Ram also intends to develop a 'pay as you dive' indoor diving leisure centre, the Dive Dome, the first of its kind in the UK. But the piece de résistance is a joint venture with FIFPro to hold the World X1 Player awards, where FIFPro's 38,000 footballing members will vote for its global dream team, culminating in a televised all-singing, all-dancing, fashionable award ceremony at Wembley Conference Centre in September.

While the business has yet to produce any revenue, Selman is confident the business will be profitable within a year. In the meantime, he's always open to new ideas, though boring firms need not apply.
