Image Scan is dependent on the aviation market's acceptance of its 2- and 3D security screening units to expand into the corporate and secure building arena. The company has pinned its hopes on its manufacturing and marketing agreement with Rapiscan, a significant player in the baggage scanning machine sector, as engineering sign off, CE approval and the product launch of the AXIS-3D system is expected in January. To that end, the company has thrown itself wholeheartedly into the pre-launch global marketing of the three dimensional X-ray screening unit. The period also saw its DEX industrial inspection system launched, which wil target the pharmaceutical sector. Not surprisingly, with losses increasing to £839,000 from £665,000, chief executive Nick Fox has stated that the focus of the next 12 months 'will be to turn its current product range into sales.' But 'significant' sales revenue will not be forthcoming until the second half of 2004. Share price dropped 9.88% to 36.5p per share when results were announced. But, if brokers Durlacher are coreect in predicting sales increasing to £2.5m next year and gross margins lifting to 50%, it could be worth a speculative buy.
