Conroy invites partners

Companies: CDG
10/01/2006

Irish prospector hopeful Conroy Diamonds and Gold (CDG) wants corporate partners for its quest for gold near the Irish border.

Founder-chairman Professor Richard Conroy says the company intends to seek industry partners to help CDG achieve its target of establishing a resource of more than one million oz of gold in the 'Longford Down massif', straddling the border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland. Stressing that the company has independently increased its prospects significantly, he says CDG, which last year announced another potential gold find at Tivnacree in Co Armagh, would welcome technical as much as financial assistance from any partner.

Floated at 25p in 2000, Conroy shares have been wretched performers, as the market has grown impatient for it to do a deal over its claimed discoveries. Lately, however, the shares have rallied from November's almost invisible 1.6p to 6p, up from our October mention at 2.63p and valuing the company at £4 million.

The appeal is speculative.
