Despite lauding its Bank restaurants at Aldwych, Westminster and Birmingham as market leaders, the company's results still fail to inspire, as does its share price performance. Pre-tax profits (before goodwill amortisation and depreciation) totalled £38,000 during the year to 31 October, with turnover at £9.3m. All the usual reasons are given as reasons for the poor display, with foot and mouth, September 11 and the economic downturn augmented by 'protracted rail problems'. Trading is said to be profitable and in line with expectations in the current year so-far, but balance sheet weakness remains a cause for concern - there was zero cash in the bank and £4m of debt at the end of the last reporting period.
