Foo Katan, chief executive of games developer Bits, has unveiled more details about its recent game agreement with Kotobuki System Co, the video games arm of global publisher Kemco. Rogue Ops will be distributed on GameCube, the PS2 and the Xbox in the fourth quarter of 2003, and will be unveiled at the E3 games convention in LA this month. The deal is the latest in a swathe announced in recent months, including an agreement with THQ to develop SEGA ARCADE GALLERY for the Game Boy Advance and with Fox Interactive to develop and co-publish Die Hard Vendetta for the PS2. Back in December, Katan announced some disappointing half time numbers to 30 September. Losses widened to £556,000 from £375,000 on lower sales of £633,000 (£855,000) - these reflected the effects of a potentially disastrous suspended development agreement with publisher Midway for a game last year, a turn of events that forced Bits into a £390,000 fundraising at 4p. 'The publisher pulled leaving them with sunk development costs' explains Sophie Tomkins at broker Collins Stewart, 'and they've gotten out of jail with this Kemco deal'. In the year to March 2002, Bits lost £1.74m on sales of £994,000. Though there are no forecasts in the market for 2003, we believe the shares are a hold on recent events.
