Video communications specialist Scotty Group is to work with Thrales Avionics to develop new air-to-ground communications equipment.
Berkshire-based Scotty chaired by ex-Tory defence minister Lord Trefgarne, has agreed a Memorandum of Understanding with Thrales, a ‘world leader’ in supplying avionics equipment for civil and military aircraft, to co-operate in designing and manufacturing products for air-to-ground, high-speed secure communications. According to the memorandum, the AIM-quoted company and Thrales will apply their complementary capabilities to market systems jointly for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
The aim is to combine Scotty’s high-speed communications systems for video, audio and data with Thrales’s Top-Flight Satcom avionics satellite communications systems. Scotty will join Thrales in exhibiting at the Hercules Operators Conference, which starts today.
Shares in Scotty, which turned a £379,000 loss into £304,000 pre-tax profits at the half-year stage, fell from 118.75p to 36.25p between 2005 and last November. They have rallied modestly and at 50.5p might outperform some sector peers.
